Flags Flew High For Fanny Bay Day
Phantasmagorical flags!! Single-sided or double-sided, mystical or realistic, hand-drawn or photographic, all were colourful and imaginative—we have a lot of creative talent in Fanny Bay!
A huge thank you from the Fanny Bay Community Association (FBCA) to everyone who took the time to play with the simple white fabric we provided, to produce such fantastic works of art for all to admire during Fanny Bay Day. Your high-flying works spawned a lot of interest and favourable comments, and we hope you continue to enjoy them in your own homes or work places.
Starting with the flags being paraded to the music of African drums and ending with the fun ball game being played to cheers from the beer garden, it was a day of good food, good music, and good fun. We’re sure each person who attended, regardless of age, has a story to tell about some particular event of the day: how the smell of onions and burgers or oysters cooking on the barbecues was too good to resist, or how the multigenerational field races and the children’s activities bubbled with excitement and laughter, or how they learned something new at the community tables, or how the Master of Ceremonies whizzed around on a scooter using spectacular spectacles to keep everyone attending to her announcements, or how the beer garden chairs filled readily despite their alternate location away from the trees, or how close the bocce ball and loopy ladder games were, or how many local organizations benefited from the Lions presentations, or how the will of young adults got the ball game rolling. We had fun and we hope you did too! The community truly came together to share their knowledge, talents, and genuine goodwill, and we are all the better for it.
