LIZZY HOYT TRIO Sat, March 9th 7pm
Award-winning songwriter with the voice of an angel, multiinstrumentalist Lizzy Hoyt delivers music with soaring melodies rooted in Celtic and folk traditions. She is one of Canada’s most powerful Celtic-folk artists, noted for bringing Canadian history to life with her music. In 2013, Lizzy was awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal by the Governor General of Canada for her outstanding contribution to commemorating Canadian veterans and history through music.
KEITH BENNET & MILES BLACK Sat, April 6th 7pm
Playing jazz standards as well as tunes by Stevie Wonder, Bonnie Raitt, the Doobie Brothers, and Sting, this pianoharmonica duo bring a new sound to our hall.
Keith Bennett won both chromatic jazz and blues harmonica classes at the 2013 World Harmonica Festival, was the Vancouver Canucks’ ‘Harmonica Man’ for a decade and was a harmonica soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra.
Firstly known as one of Canada’s most accomplished jazz pianists, Miles Black is also highly acclaimed and sought after as an arranger, producer, composer, session musician, guitarist, vocalist, bassist, saxophonist, songwriter, and musical theatre director.
CHROMA QUARTET Sat, May 4th 7pm
This Mexican string quartet, is comprised of members Ilya Ivanov (Violin/Viola), Felix Alanis (Violin/Viola), Carlos Quijano (Violin) and Manuel Cruz (Cello).
They were the top prize winners at the National String Quartet Competition “La Superior” (2017) in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico; the Manuel M. Ponce prize at the Festival de Música de Cámara of Aguascalientes, Mexico; and the first prize winners at the Mateo Oliva National Chamber Music Competition.
This highly versatile group enjoys delving into many forms and genres of music including jazz, folk, and electronic as well as classical repertoire
